A nurse says eating right after waking up is harmful to your health: "You're swallowing bacteria and toxins."

Picking up our cell phone, going to the bathroom, or eating breakfast are some of the first things we do after waking up . What many people don't know is that one of them can be detrimental to our health .

Nayra Gómez, a nurse who shares content on social media about inflammation, nutrition, and wellness, has confirmed that eating something right after opening your eyes "may seem like an unimportant detail, but it has a huge impact on your digestive and inflammatory health ."

"If you wake up and eat without brushing your teeth, you're swallowing bacteria, toxins, and inflammatory compounds that accumulated overnight," explains the healthcare professional. "All of this goes directly to your stomach and intestines and can alter your microbiota," she adds.

Although it's a habit adopted by a large portion of the population, it " increases inflammation throughout your body" in the form of acne, abdominal bloating, brain fog, or fatigue.

The result of this routine is that the microbiota is altered , you can suffer from intestinal dysbiosis, there is a greater toxic load on the liver and the possibility of suffering from silent chronic inflammation.

"The first anti-inflammatory step of the day starts in your mouth . This is where the power of oil pulling with coconut oil and oregano comes into play. Coconut oil is antimicrobial and antifungal, while oregano has powerful anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties," recommends Nayra Gómez.

Both ingredients "act as a perfect team to reduce the toxic load in the mouth and prevent the proliferation of pathogens that can affect your gut microbiota," she maintains. Furthermore, "this habit not only strengthens your oral health, but also helps you maintain a balance in your gut microbiota, improving your overall well-being. It's a small change with a huge impact!" she concludes.
